I want it!

While strolling through downtown Portland the other day, I spotted what looked like a stuffed dead body in a store window.. Upon closer inspection, I noticed it was some kind of quilted all-over form fitting blanket type thing.. Then I realized just what it was.. a wearable sleeping bag! I was like... "Yes! This is what everyone needs!".. went home, did some digging and found out they are called Selk'bags.... amazing. I'm getting one.

Framed work!

I'm really excited that after years of waiting, I've have finally gotten a number of awesome prints framed and hung in my new spot. Wanted to share some of my favorite artists work. Not the best photos, due to glare and such, but take a looksie...

Finally got about to framing the Tank Theory show poster I designed for the Spring 2007 season, titled Sideshow. As some of you may have seen previously seen photos of, I went out in the streets of New York on a wheat paste campaign putting these all over to generate buzz for the coming of that season. This rather cheap print on thin paper looks pretty damn good put in a solid black wood frame.


This letterpress print I got in trade years ago from Brooklyn based artist and designer, Kevin Devine.. I love this print and finally got the thing on my wall.


Another print by Grant Barnhart, this one newer that the other I had framed. This is one of the more expensive prints I've ever purchased, but just look at the thing! Such fresh artwork and printed so well.. the chicken in the center literally looks drawn on the paper.. This is one of my new favorites. Unfortunately, this photo does not do this print justice.


And a classic by Kozy and Dan.. I have always loved this piece and I'm psyched to finally get this framed.



I have so much more work I left back in New York.. much of it originals. I'm planning a trip back east in august, and I'll be scooping it all up then.. Can't wait to really fill up this house!

Road Trip

I took my first roadtrip since I've been out in Portland. My brother, his friend Gilbert, and myself hopped in the subes and headed towards Mt. Baker in Washington for a big Ski to Sea event that happens every year, and which my older brother, Josh,
has teams in every year. We left Portland and took a very long, scenic route to Mt. Baker taking us through Mt. St. Helens, Seattle, the North Cascades and a number of little towns in between, about every windy, one lane road that Washington had to offer (many of them washed out, snowed in, or closed altogether), awesome views, too many beers, one broken Subaru key, one long walk from Georgetown through South Seattle, lots of arduous hikes through snow or pavement, good campfires with good people, one 80-some mile marathon from Mt. Baker to Puget Sound, and some of the wrinkliest feet I've ever seen.

Art Session

I have been really inspired since coming to Portland, partly due to the creative atmosphere I dropped myself into.. and partly due to the excitement of moving and being in a new place.. Regardless, I have some very talented and motivated friends in Portland, and as soon as I got a couch to sit on, I invited some of them over for an impromptu art session.. My good friends Tai, Eatcho, and Asa amongst others were there to make some marks..

Later, I'll actually post some images of what came of that art session, besides eating burritos and smoking monster doobies...

Trikin'

Spring has done sprung here in Portland.. well, kinda... It's still a bit cold and rainy sometimes, but when the sun does come out, Portland turns into one big playground. It's full of some beautiful parks, tons of biking, ample skateparks, lots of bars and outdoor seating and everybody coming out of the woodwork to play. To mark spring, my friend Pete recently got this totally sweet trike bike made by Razor for $5! It didn't take long for us to destroy it's back wheels.. and my spine..

Tank Theory May 2008 Update

Tank Theory has kicked off May (umm.. a little late i guess) with some killer new stuff. Check out Stained Skull, May's Tshirt of the Month. It's full strength! James Roper's new design is mind boggling as usual. Plus, a new artist in our ranks, Skinner, killed it with Death God.. Some awesome stuff, so make a point to stop through!
