Portland Pig Roast 2008

A very strange event indeed.. my friend Rob's family throws a bonafied pig roast every summer and I had the pleasure of attending this year.. Every year has a different theme, this being Star Wars.. yup, Star Wars will never EVER die. So not only was it strange for the fact that I just barely started eating meat again, and here I was eating pork from a fully ground roasted pig, but Darth Vader and the Storm Trooper commander were hanging out beside me. I was told that the pig was locally farm raised and had a healthy life, so I felt less guilty for eating it. I must say it was quite tasty.. and Rob's aunt & uncle who threw the party are rad people and did everything right..

The guy in the middle with the shades on is Rob.. he is working for Wieden+Kennedy at the moment.. for those who don't know, W&K is a huge design firm with it's headquarters here in Portland.
Check out the table cloth they had too! I had this same design on my sheets when I was a wee lad.
There was also a big silkscreen printing production happening in their garage. They were screening various Starwars/pigroast graphics on tees that people brought.. in some instances, they even screened right onto people.

There was just so much fun stuff to be had in their yard, including this section of tubing from an old McDonalds playset.. mixed with overexcited adults and this stuff becomes even more fun!

I'll just say that the weed around here is fantastic!
I'll end this post with this image I snapped outside Rob's house.. pretty yes.. and it reminded me of that Dr. Octogon track by Kool Keith - Blue Flowers..

Let me show you somethin
Dr. Octagon paramedic fetus of the East
with priests I'm from the Church of the Operating Room
with the strike support scalpels since the holocaust
I do indeed in greed explore meet the patients
Back to brooms with the nurse with the voodoo curse
Holding up office lights standing at huge heights
Back and forth left wing swing to North
East and South with blood pouring down your mouth
I come prepared with the white suit and stethascope
Listen to your heartbeat, delete beep beep BEEP
Your insurance is high, but my price is cheap
Look at the land... Blue Flowers!
Drawing by the purple pond, in the purple pastures Blue Flowers!
Drawing by the purple pond, yellow ink that flows Blue Flowers!
Drawing by the pond, look, it's raining yellow
Would you care to listen to me more? Thank you
Holding bags on down right from the hospital
It's a patient that's worth to keep the germs off the turf
Cybernetic microscopes and metal antidote
Two telescopes that magnify the size of a roach
Three computers to cup of coffee planted with my hand and
astroplanets detached turn on rear foggers
Cut the light on the kid, and turn the bright on
Supersonic waves combine and burn as brainwaves
I see the mascot of Evil he's not Kneivel
Shakespeare's gone don't even think about it
Yes, as I'm going to the park, I see... Blue Flowers!
It's raining green, by the pond Blue Flowers!
It's totally raining green, pouring Blue Flowers!
I smell the bees and the birds Blue Flowers!

Bulging Baby Silkscreen Print

I had this print ganged onto a series my friend Daniel St. George was running late last year.. the Bulging Baby. I've had a number of these left over since that time, so I thought I would offer them on my site, now that I have a store.. The palette is very different for me, being Dan's choice, but I kind of enjoy it.. there are maybe 20 of these left out of 65, so scoop one today!

Randoms

I haven't posted anything up here in a while, so thought i'd share a number of random images from the last couple weeks. I won't explain what or where these are. Just let it be known that they are some of the images that have crossed my path and that have crossed paths with me. A few of these were taken by my friend Sam and also a few from my brother Blake, so can't take credit for everything.

But really.. have you ever tried to stuff a flat tire with grass and ride it home? Somebody told me it worked.. I'll tell you right now, it doesn't.

I am working on a new series of Wanderers that will be finished soon. I thought I'd share some images of the progress. Keep posted for a new photo series of these guys scouring the rainforests, deserts, and cities of the northwest and beyond.
